“DIVISIN”

Cutting a piece of cloth into two, dividing a shape into three.
Planes and three-dimensional forms split vertically or diagonally.
Various forms are created by modifying the rules of division and changing how parts are assembled.

Cutting cloth and sewing pieces to create clothes.
Studying the placement of dividing lines along the body.
132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE pursues the study of how to assemble clothing through the subject of dividing a piece of cloth.

DIVISIONS

This series of three items create organic forms when worn, and are designed to create one large square when folded flat and combined. The square is divided into 9 squares, with 4 squares being the skirt, 2 squares being the top, and 3 being the dress. When laid flat, the front and back sides are different colours, and can be combined in different ways.
