The KURA gallery of ISSEY MIYAKE KYOTO presents KURA Exhibition “FLAT.”

FLAT

This exhibition presents the coat and jacket of the FLAT series from 132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE men’s collection.
The design of the clothes is a simple construction that allows them to turn into three-dimensional forms when worn on the body and lie flat when folded.
The fabric is made of a high-density weave of recycled polyester threads, giving the clothes a firm texture with a soft lustre. The formal qualities of the series are expressed in four colours. The series was also shown at the HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE’s presentation PLAYGROUND in Paris in January, where its colour variations brightened up the presentation as many of its items were used.
This exhibition introduces the FLAT series through a visual montage and photographs of outfits inspired by PLAYGROUND.
