“OPEN UP”

The CREATION SPACE at ISSEY MIYAKE SEMBA presents a special installation “OPEN UP” from 132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE.

In this exhibition, we present “132 5. SQUARE UNITS,” a series focused on the process of a flat object opening into a three-dimensional form, inspired by the way pages open up, pursuing the shape that emerges from this unfolding.

In the video “132 5. SQUARE UNITS,” a light blue square is considered to be a unit, representing 132 5.. A series of squares spreads out in three dimensions, showing various aspects.

For more than ten years, 132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE has been passionate about the development of materials, and has adopted a recycled polyester fabric as its base material. The brand has expanded the possibilities of fabric development, such as using blends with natural fibres and novel synthetic threads.
