Introducing the 5th collection of the “IKKO TANAKA ISSEY MIYAKE” series, which expresses the poster works of graphic designer Ikko Tanaka through clothes and accessories. This series was started in 2016 out of respect for Mr Tanaka's work and gratitude for being given so much inspiration, and has since worked on various works by Mr Tanaka. The work chosen this time was exhibited at the solo exhibition “Ikko Tanaka Graphic Art Botanical Garden” held in 1990. The composition of linear silhouettes and colour planes was created by a collage of coloured paper. Motifs reminiscent of the Rimpa school of painting, such as lilies and irises, and an imaginary plant named shitadashisou are depicted sharply and humorously. By reflecting these motifs and colours on materials such as pleats and cotton, the free and joyful worldview of the work can be enjoyed by the wearer. In this exhibition, you can see posters by Mr Ikko Tanaka as well as accessories with these themes.
