HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE “10 YEARS OF DESIGN AND MAKING”

The CUBE at ISSEY MIYAKE GINZA / 445 presents the exhibition “10 YEARS OF DESIGN AND MAKING” by HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE.

HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE creates clothing that is defined not by times but by its wearers.

As a brand founded on the company’s original technology of garment pleating, in November 2023 HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE celebrates its 10th anniversary. Since inception to this day, the brand has worked with the same technology to design and make clothing with an undeviating approach—creating garments of original forms that lend themselves to qualities of timelessness.

The brand has developed and conveyed an aesthetic that is universal, like those garments cherished throughout changing seasons. The brand has reflected on the notion of clothing with design and qualities to be worn for a lifetime, like those everyday tools used and treasured over time—promoting what could be considered a new perspective on clothing as culture.

1For this anniversary, photographer Henry Leutwyler has captured the garments as well as the tools used for the design and making: still lifes of objects such as a needle, a measuring tape, and fabric pieces together telling a story of the last 10 years.

Designed and made for the freedom and ease in modern lifestyles, HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE continues to explore clothing that speaks to and brings out every wearer’s individuality.

Installations in conjunction with this will be held at the CREATION SPACE of ISSEY MIYAKE SEMBA.
